🥁🥁 Announcing Bookworm Pro 🎊

support Bookworm by going ProWorm today

Bookworm Pro is here!

I am thrilled to announce the launch of Bookworm Pro, the premium version of our beloved book community.

In case we haven’t met yet, hi! I’m Amelia (@meelworm), the creator of Bookworm Reads. I’ve been building Bookworm for about a year and a half now, and I’m so proud that we have over 3500 wormies who love and support Bookworm. I built Bookworm after years wishing Goodreads would get better—I wanted something that was more intuitive, more mobile-friendly, more colorful, and not owned by Amazon. I’m a developer by training and an artist at heart, and I designed, drew, coded, and deployed just about everything you see on the app #girlboss amirite??

But, a worm’s gotta eat. Bookworm has been my full-time job for almost 2 years now, and it’s truly a labor of love (in that I don’t have a salary, lol not lol). Each month, as our community grows (yay!) our server costs also grow (sad). Having the best reading app comes at a financial cost that until this point I’ve been paying on my own. Now, I’m humbly asking for your support in keeping Bookworm independent and free to use.

Bookworm Pro is launching today, for the teeny tiny cost of $5/month, or $50/year—that’s 2 months free! By going ProWorm (😝) you get access to some sweet bonus features, but most importantly you keep Bookworm alive and wriggling.

Your Bookworm Pro subscription will support the development of premium and universal features like:

  • new worm outfits (obvi)

  • collaborative bookshelves

  • book tags

  • community-led reading challenges

And this growth starts now, with our brand new feature: Ask the community!

Write to your fellow worms for book recs, book discussion, hot takes, or whatever’s on your mind. And weigh in on other worms’ calls for comment. We love an opinionated worm!

A community by and for readers should be supported by those readers—not tailored to the needs of advertisers and huge corporations. That's why I’m asking you to consider becoming a Bookworm Pro member today. By going ProWorm, you will be supporting an independent, feminist, women-run book community that is by and for readers. With your support, our space for readers to connect, share, and explore their love for books can continue to thrive and grow.

Bookworm wouldn’t be the delight it is without you. The gorgeous community of wormies that we’ve built together energizes me to keep coding, keep hosting events, and keep pumping out book memes for y’all. Speaking of, here’s a treat for reading this far:

I am so proud to launch Bookworm Pro and I hope you will join your fellow wormies in this exciting new chapter.
