Gratitude stuffed inside this leftover turkey sandwich 🙏

If you’re US-based, Thanksgiving was last week. For a lot of folks, Thanksgiving is a day where families and friends gather to break bread, share what they’re thankful for, munch on some turkey and stuffing, and, simply, soak up the presence of each other. A day where gratitude is as plentiful as the leftovers.

In the spirit of gratitude, we want to say thank you. Thank you for being a part of this community, and for sharing your love of books and each other. It means more than you know.

[It’s important that we recognize the fact that Thanksgiving also comes with the trauma of colonialism and genocide. There are so many darker aspects of this day that need to be acknowledged and reckoned with, and we hope we can do that together. May we recommend An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz as a starting point.]

Brick & Mortar 4Ever: Southeast Wisconsin Edition 📚

From our fellow wormy Caroline’s mouth to your ears. Or... eyes.

Caroline wrote in and shared the best of the best for Southeast Wisconsin. So if you ever find yourself in this little cozy corner of the world, make sure you stop in at one of these four shops:

Leopold's: (Madison, WI) A charming bar/coffee shop/book store that just got an expansion! this is the only bookstore where I've ever seen the books categorized by location - it's an excellent way to branch out into different types of literature if you're exploring. the drinks are fun and the industrial vibe of the bar area gives the space some extra flair. There's a cozy room that you can rent out too. Book Club anyone?

Lake City Books: (Madison, WI) An adorable lil’ joint that’s NEW and right off of the capitol square in Madison! it's a garden-level store, but it doesn't feel subterranean at all. The decor and the windows fill the space with light. Lots of options for used books and local art.

Boswell Book Company: (Milwaukee, WI) This bookstore has enough size to cover almost any book you could want, but the decor and overstuffed furniture make it feel homey as soon as you walk in. Secondhand books, special editions, and staff picks mean that you'll never have to leave the store empty-handed. Or at least, I never have.

Ink Link Books: (East Troy, WI) The vibes in this store are always IMMACULATE. It's a small space, but it's well-organized so it feels cozy, not cluttered. there are so many options packed in, and the employees are always super helpful and knowledgeable.

Been to these stores? My worms, shout it from the mountaintops! Let us know what you think. 🎙️

It feels right that Caroline mentioned a book club when talking about Leopold’s... Because do we have news for you:

We’ve got book clubs, babyyyyy. 🎉

Get your book club on Bookworm or join an existing club to meet like-minded readers. Book clubs can be virtual or IRL, private or public. They can be collaborative, meaning all club members can add to your shared library, or follow-along, meaning only the organizer gets to choose the book but members can see & read along too. You can also host your book discussion right in the app. This is perfect for updates on your reading journey, sharing your feels on that jaw-dropping moment in chapter 13, or a Q&A with the author.

Have you tried out Bookworm book clubs yet? What do you think? Reply here or email [email protected] with feedback, ideas, and/or glowing praise

And guess what?! Everyone’s invited to our Bookworm-wide book club 🙂

Thanks for reading. Let us know what you think (simply, hit reply).

Yours in dirt,
