đ Wormie Spotlight with Savanna Clark (aka @savanna.the.worm) đ
Read more about one of our wormie friends, Savanna, a lover of classic books and Howlâs Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones!
Each month, we hope to chat with a wormie just like you. Bookworm is all about community, and itâs high time we get to know our neighbors. We want to learn more about your reading habits, favorite books, and the odd, beautiful things that make you you.
This monthâs wormie, Savanna, a lover of classic books and Howlâs Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. Meet Savanna Clark.
Here's our conversation with Savanna. Our questions are in bold, and Savannaâs responses are directly below each question.
Whatâs one book you think everyone in the Bookworm community should read? Why?
This isnât just one book, but I think everyone should read at least one classic every once in a while. Thereâs so much to be gained from reading outside my typical genre, but classics especially stretch my brain with bigger words and old-fashioned culture in a way that always makes me think. Plus itâs neat to see the history of literature and how we got to where we are, even if it doesnât end up becoming a favorite book.
Whatâs the book youâre always recommending to friends?
The book I recommend most often in person is Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko. The books I recommend most often on Bookworm are Howlâs Moving Castle (Diana Wynne Jones) and Dealing with Dragons (Patricia C. Wrede).
Whatâs the book that made you love reading?
My mom introduced me to The Boxcar Children when I was just starting to read chapter books on my own, and I LOVED them! I checked out so many of those books from the local library and devoured them one after the other. While I canât say how they hold up, I do still love a good mystery!
How do you decide what to read next?
Itâs mostly vibesâwhat do I feel like picking up next?âespecially seasonal vibes. But I do tend to prioritize books I have checked out from the library, books I own, or books my sister recommended.
How did you find out about Bookworm?
I started getting into tracking my reading the last few years and wanted something to take that beyond the notes app on my phone. I think I found Bookworm in a Google search somehow, and I immediately fell in love with the genuinely welcoming community there. It feels like a rarity on the internet these days, and itâs so refreshing.
What dream bestie do you want for your worm?
